Bansko is situated in South-western Bulgaria at one of the most beautiful locations of the Pirin Mountain. The town is situated 160 km south from Sofia, where the International Airport is located. Transfer time from Sofia to Bansko is 2 hours.
Bansko is a major administrative, cultural, and economic center.

Nestled in the foothills of the spectacular Pirin Mountain range, the beautiful and historic town of Bansko can be found. This highly attractive town is packed full of history. Wander down just about any street or turn any corner and some charming property can be found or historic monument. First set up by the Thracians many hundreds of years ago, the Romans and Byzantines have also left their mark on the town.

Bansko is not just a pretty town but is now also famous for its great skiing. The Pirin mountains are regularly compared with the French Alps due to their similarity. Due to the alpine character, skiing conditions here are excellent and Bansko is seeing very extensive investment already to turn it into one of the best ski resorts in Bulgaria. New ski lifts have already been installed and the amount of ski runs are being expanded constantly. Snow making facilities have recently been improved and skiing can now last into early May.

Eating Out

There are a wide range of places to eat in Bansko. There are around 40 Mehanas, hotel restaurants and street cafés. All of them offer fresh fruit and vegetable salads. Menus are full of traditional meals and a great selection of house wines. All Mehanas and restaurants in Bansko serve the usual European beers, as well as the local brews. Nightlife in Bansko

Bansko combines traditional and modern places to go out. The town has about 45 pubs, 20 restaurants, and several night clubs.

Casino

Bansko has two Casinos, both within 5 minutes walk of the apartment. Here you can play all of the usual one-arm bandits, roulette, blackjack, poker etc

Ten-pin bowling

The ten pin bowling complex also provides various arcade machines, pool tables, a café and bar. It is situated next to the Strazhite hotel on the main road (Glazne) coming into Bansko and about 5 minutes walk from the apartment.

Late night shopping

For those not content with shopping during the day, you can continue late into the evening, with most shops staying open until around 8pm.
